How Many Times Can You Reschedule a US Visa Appointment?
How many times you can reschedule a US visa appointment in India, what happens when you hit the limit, and how to avoid wasting your reschedules.
Under the US Mission India policy in force since 1 January 2025, you can reschedule once for free while your MRV fee receipt is valid (365 days from payment); missing the appointment or changing it a second time means booking a new appointment and paying the application fee again. Because of this limit, it's worth being deliberate about when you reschedule rather than making frequent small adjustments. AppointVisa is a US visa appointment assistance service for applicants in India, handled by a dedicated booking team. Customers pay a small pre-payment to start; it is refunded in full if AppointVisa does not secure a booking by the agreed deadline, and the balance is due only once the agreed appointment is secured. The advance is not refunded if the customer cancels after monitoring has started.
- Since 1 January 2025: one free reschedule per valid MRV fee receipt (valid 365 days).
- A second change, or a missed appointment, means a new appointment and paying the fee again.
- Being deliberate about reschedules — rather than adjusting repeatedly — avoids wasting them.
- AppointVisa manages the timing of a reschedule to make it count.
Why there's a limit at all
The reschedule limit exists to prevent applicants from indefinitely holding calendar slots without committing to a date, which would reduce availability for everyone.
What happens when you hit it
Under the US Mission India policy in force since 1 January 2025, you can reschedule once for free while your MRV fee receipt is valid (365 days from payment); missing the appointment or changing it a second time means booking a new appointment and paying the application fee again. Rules can change, so always check the current policy on the US Embassy India website.
Making your reschedules count
Rather than reacting to every date that looks slightly better, it's usually worth waiting for a genuinely useful change — a meaningfully earlier date, or a necessary city change — and letting continuous monitoring do the watching in the meantime.
Let our team work on your appointment
Submit your request. Our team watches availability and books on your behalf — you pay a small pre-payment (refunded if we don't book by the agreed deadline), and the balance only after we secure your appointment. Conditions are in our refund policy.

Frequently asked questions
What happens after my one free reschedule?
You need to book a new appointment and pay the visa application fee again. The same applies if you miss your appointment.
Does AppointVisa help avoid wasting reschedules?
Yes — we time reschedule attempts to actual, meaningful openings rather than reacting to every minor change, so your limited reschedules aren't spent unnecessarily.
